University of Nairobi- Still the University of Choice?

The University of Nairobi is Kenya’s oldest University.

It started as a royal technical college in the colonial days before it was converted into a University college under the University of London. Before UON was elevated to the University level status, many Kenyans used to be educated in the University of Dar-es-Salaam or Makerere University. With such a rich history, the University has in deed been able to offer all courses that can be undertaken in Kenya. The alumni network of the University is also the most widespread, and comprises of parliamentarians, government officials, corporate managers in Kenya and abroad. Due to such a rich history, the University has been the highest ranked Kenyan University, although it has been dislodged from the top slot a few times by Strathmore University.
